India-China Borders Closely Monitored By US Says Official
T
he US official on Tuesday expressed concerns over Beijing’s pattern of proceeding attempts to intimidate its neighbor and said that the US is closely monitoring the situation along the India-China border. The State Department Spokesperson, Ned Price at his daily news conference told the reporters “We are closely monitoring the situation. We note the ongoing talks between the governments of India and China, and we continue to support direct dialogue and a peaceful resolution of those border disputes.”
Since early May last year Indian and Chinese troops have been in a standoff at the eastern Ladakh border. Last month the two countries were in ninth rounds of military talks where they decided to push an early disengagement of troops and resolved to continue “effective efforts” to steady and control the situation in Eastern Ladakh.
Mr Price in a response to a question asked said “We are concerned by Beijing's pattern of ongoing attempts to intimidate its neighbors. As always we will stand with friends, we will stand with partners, we will stand with allies to advance our shared prosperity, security and values in this case, the Indo-Pacific.”
The US engages regularly with the Indian government on the two countries' shared commitment to democratic values said the spokesperson.
