Tata Group to import 24 cryogenic containers to transport liquid oxygen to ease the shortage

T

he Tata Group announced on Twitter that they will import 24 cryogenic containers to transport liquid oxygen to ease the shortage of oxygen amid a sudden surge in the Covid cases. "The Tata group is importing 24 cryogenic containers to transport liquid oxygen and help ease the oxygen shortage in the country," the tweet said.

The announcement was made after the Prime Minister, in his address to the nation, said the Centre is trying to meet the huge demand for oxygen. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Tata Group's contribution by calling it a "compassionate gesture."

As Covid cases have been rising at an exponential rate, several states have been struggling to get oxygen for the Covid patients. There has been acute shortage of oxygen in states including Delhi and Maharashtra. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has even alleged that the Centre has been diverting the oxygen stock of Delhi to other states

Since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, the Tata Group took several steps to provide help to the people during the crisis. The group had announced Rs 1500 crore last year, and has since then procured ventilators, PPE kits, testing kits whenever the need arose and even built a hospital in Kerala in six weeks.
