IIMS Chief Dr Randeep Guleria emphasized the need to follow the right time and the right usage of drugs. He mainly underlined key points and said that most patients in home settings do not require these medicines and they are getting recovered with proper care and clinical management.

Guleria called drugs as " Investigational " he said that these drugs needed to be used with utmost care and as per the guidance and protocol. He said "Remdesivir isn't a magic bullet"  and isn't a  drug that decreases mortality. We may use it as we don't have an antiviral drug and  said that this is of no use if given to an asymptomatic individual or the one with mild symptoms. Remdesivir is given only  to the patients who are hospitalized and have a fall in oxygen saturation and have infiltrated on chest X-Ray or CT scan.

Meanwhile, AIIMS Chief also stated that "Recovery trials showed that steroids will benefit but it's important to know when they are given. If given early before oxygen saturation falls, it has a harmful effect. Covid patients who got steroids early had higher mortality than those who didn't. He focused and said that it's important to use drugs based on evidence gathered so far.
