ue to the surge in Covid-19 cases and the prevailing situation in the country, the first Oxygen express has departed from the central Railways kalamboli Yard to ferry liquid oxygen for Maharashtra from the Visakhapatnam steel plant in Andhra Pradesh.

According to the statement given by the Railway Ministry, the Mumbai division built a ramp overnight within 24 hours at Kalamboli goods yard to facilitate loading and unloading of tankers in/ from wagons. The Ministry also said that the Ro-Ro (roll-on,roll-off) service with seven empty tankers departed at 8.05 pm on Monday. The route for this train will be via Vasai Road, Jalgaon, Nagpur, Raipur to Visakhapatnam. 

Piyush Goyal, Railway Minister, said that the central Government was creating a green corridor for fast movement of "Oxygen Express" trains for smooth transport of oxygen to states. He said for transportation of this liquid oxygen, military wagons will be used to transport 3.3  meter high  tankers and these trains will not be stopped so that they can reach their destination at a fast speed.

Covid-19 cases have created a shortage of oxygen in multiple states, the situation is pathetic in many regions
