Delhi Government to keep "Buffer stock" of oxygen for emergency

ith high demand for oxygen in the Capital and people are losing their loved ones due to improper oxygen supply or shortage of oxygen the Delhi Government has decided to maintain a buffer stock of oxygen for emergency purposes. The order by the deputy secretary (health ) read that, "A reserve of 20 (MT)Metric Tonnes on a rotational basis will be maintained by the Government of NCT Delhi through the control Centre to address emergent or critical situation in any hospital " this was one of the suggestions made by representative of private hospitals in a meeting with  Deputy Chief Minister ,Manish Sisodia and representatives. 

According to the previous order, The daily quota of 490 MT medical oxygen allocated to Delhi by the centre suppliers that they could provide only 445 MT. Of this, 387 metric tons have been allocated to hospitals for covid-19 services, 40 MT for non-Covid services and 18 MT as a reserve.Medical Director, SCL Gupta, Batra Hospital said that the quota for oxygen has been reduced; the allocation is based on the patient census in the hospital on April 24 had  240 patients in the hospital, then today I have 302 where I will get the oxygen to manage the additional 60 patients of oxygen suppliers.

According to the Delhi government, it said in a statement that, it doesn't even receive the entire 445 MT of oxygen daily." We received 402 MT of oxygen yesterday and the day before that 408 MT. We have allocated the share of 480 MT on 21 April and 490 MT on 25 April. But it is hardly reaching us in that quantity. Presently the allocation is done keeping in mind the number of ICU bed and non-ICU oxygen beds
