Delhi: Dog Cremation ground to be temporarily used for Humans cremation

ue to Covid-19, the death rate in the National Capital is also at  peak,  the Cremation ground are overcrowded, relatives along with deceased bodies are queuing to perform last rites. With the number of Covid-19 protocol funerals approaching 700 bodies per day, the civic bodies are scrambling for space for funerals of the Covid-19 patients.

Meanwhile South Municipal Corporation plans to create a temporary human funeral pyre platform on the project site meant for the first municipal dog Crematorium of the city in Dwarka sector 29. According to a corporation official, it said that "Temporary pyre platforms will be developed to cater to additional bodies. we are witnessing over 15 -20% in cremation daily." further added that "with around 700 bodies already being cremated, we have to prepare for 1000 bodies per day in advance to avoid the chaos. we have also identified sites along the Yamuna to increase the capacity, said an official.
