Covid19: Delhi police launches COVI Van for senior citizens in South Delhi

ith the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic where the disease has created a scenario to stay inside four walls of the room, a new initiative has been taken in Delhi for senior citizens who require to go to the hospital for vaccination, appointment or to purchase any essentials. Delhi police has launched COVI van for senior citizens in South Delhi.

According to the senior officers' statement, the area's beat officer will take the vehicle to visit senior citizens' home, will help them by taking them to hospitals for an appointment or drive them to marketplace, medicine shop, vaccination centre according to their requirement and will provide them any of the essential services they need.

As per the information, the commencement of COVI Van service has been disseminated in the Greater Kailash -1 area through beat officers and the Resident Welfare Association (RWA).

According to the statement given by DCP (South), it said that "keeping in view the problems faced by senior citizens due to the ongoing pandemic that has restricted their movement, the initiative has been launched for their safety. It is a 24/7 helpline 01126241076. The vehicle, an SUV that has been named COVI van, has been donated for this purpose by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers."

“From taking them to hospitals to taking them for vaccination, or ferrying them to the local market to buy essentials or things of daily use, all the possible assistance will be extended by our staff. All the necessary precautions related to Covid-19, such as sanitization of vehicle, wearing gloves, face masks and maintaining social distancing, will be adhered to at all times and during every visit,” Atul Thakur said.
