private school in Palghar, a predominantly tribal district of Maharashtra, has been converted into a 100-bed Covid Care Centre, said on Saturday. District Collector Dr. Manik Gursal, Palghar Zilla Parishad health officer Dr. Dayanand Suryavanshi and other officials visited on Friday to do the arrangement and set up at Eklavya Gurukul School, located in  Usgaon near Ganeshpuri.

Vivek Pandit, the founder of Shramajivi Sanghatana, an organization that fights for the rights of tribals, took an initiative part in this assistance, In a statement, Mr. Pandit said, "today  the whole country  is dizzy under the pandemic, that’s why we thought we should  be doing  something for the community, In supporting the administration, the 100-bed facility would help the local tribal residents ."

Last week 100 trained volunteers of the organization have come forward to  help the coronavirus patients also in sensitizing people by telling the importance of vaccination  in four districts- Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and Nashik.

The COVID-19 caseload of Palghar district has reached 87,132, while the death toll has gone up to 1,578 and the active cases 18,642.
