WHO grants "emergency validation" to Pfizer vaccine: COVID-19 status

he World Health Organisation granted "emergency validation" to Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech's vaccine on Thursday. This paves way for countries to expedite the process of import of the vaccine and administer its inoculation.

"The World Health Organisation (WHO) today listed the Comirnaty COVID-19 mRNA vaccine for emergency use, making the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine the first to receive emergency validation from WHO since the outbreak began a year ago," said WHO in a statement.

The announcement made by WHO has also opened doors for the United Nations Children's Fund and the Pan- American Health Organisation to gain access to the vaccine in order to make them reachable for countries who are in dire need of it.
