rdu writer and poet Shamsur Rahman Faruqi passed away on 25 December at his ancestral home in Allahabad, he had tested positive for Corona virus last month . His body was put to rest at the Ashok Nagar Nevada Qabristan in New Delhi. Apart from his Urdu writings he was also known for his effort in reviving the dantangoi culture in Urdu.
His absence has created a vacuum in the academic circle that will be difficult to bridge. Twitter was flooded with messages offering obituaries to the renowned writer and a cult figure in cultural and academic circle of intellectuals.
