31-year-old residence went missing from Takshashila building at Gandhi Nagar in Worli. Five days after he was reported missing, he was found dead on Thursday with his body chopped into 11 pieces in a nullah near Neral railway station in Raigad district.

After a research was conducted by Worli police, body of Sushil kumar Sarnaik was found packed in two suitcases. According to the police, Sarnaik worked as relationship manager of a leading private bank at the Grant Road branch. The two accused have been identified as Charles Nadar (41) and his wife Salomi (31) and will be produced in court on Friday. “Sarnaik told his mother that he was going for a picnic with his colleagues and would return by Sunday (December 13) evening,” said Senior Inspector Sukhlal Varpe, Worli police station. He added, when he did not return, his mother started inquiring with his friends on Monday. She went to the his office branch where he was working and asked the colleagues but nobody have any idea about his whereabouts after which she approached Worli police station on December 14.

The locals on Wednesday informed Neral police about the two suitcases floating in the nullah near the station. After investigation, they found a chopped body into pieces inside the suitcase, following this, a case was registered of murder and destruction of evidence against unknown persons. “A missing person report was lodged. While we were looking for him, we got a call from the Neral police on Thursday morning informing about Sarnaik’s murder,” said Varpe. 

“We managed to find a sticker on the bag, with the help of which, we located the seller of the bag.The shop owner recognised the bag instantly and helped us identify the buyer,” said an officer. After which police scrutinized the CCTV footage installed at the shop and identified Nadar. Late Wednesday police took Sarnaik and Salomi into the custody from their residence in Rajbhag society at Neral.

After investigation police said Salomi and Sarnaik already knew each other as they worked together at a call centre. “Sarnaik visited the couple on December 12. At night, he allegedly commented on Salomi’s character, angering Charles, who then slashed his neck with a knife,” said Inspector Tanaji Narnawar of Neral police station.
