ndian shuttler Lakshya Sen,19 has pulled out of Thailand's two consecutive tournaments due to a back injury. Sen suffered a back strain during the training session. He has won five titles in the senior circuit in 2019 including two BWF World Tour Super 100 top honours- SaarLorLux Open and Dutch Open.

"Unfortunately, Lakshya will not be able to play the two events in Thailand due to a slight back strain that he suffered during training," PPBA Director and former India coach Vimal Kumar said. Sen will not be able to participate in the two consecutive Super 1000 tournaments hosted by Thailand that will take place between January 12-17 and January 19-24.

Lakshya who won silver medal at Youth Olympic Games 2018 had last participated in the Denmark Open in October. He had to withdraw from SaarLorLux Open due to quarantine protocols as his father and coach, D K Sen had tested positive for COVID-19 in Germany. Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth and B Sai Praneeth have already left for Thailand on Sunday. They will compete in BWF World Tour Super 1000 events.
