Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal receives wildcard

umit Nagal has received a wildcard entry into the Australian Open 2021 and will compete Wang Xiyu of China in the main draw.

Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal has received a wildcard entry into the Australian Open 2021, chosen from the Asia- Pacific tournament who will compete in the main draw. He will compete with Wang Xiyu of China and both of them are in addition to the names that were announced before Christmas, that is Daria Gavrilova, Astra Sharma, Christopher O'Connell, Maddison Inglis, Lizette Cabrera, and Marc Polmans.

Nagal tweeted, "I am very thankful to all the people who put effort in helping me get a wild card for the 2021 Australian Open. Thanks to Tennis Australia for all their effort to make this slam possible in these circumstances." The event will take place from February 8 to February 21 at Melbourne Park and singles, doubles as well as wheelchair competitions will be conducted.

Former world number one Andy Murray has also received entry in the tournament who is amongst eight main draw wildcard recipients.
