Mumbai Police Raids Night Club, Says Party (Nahin) Chalegi.

he Mumbai Police conducted a raid on an early Tuesday morning at a nightclub named Dragonfly near the airport area in Sahar. The police found the nightclub violating the COVID-19 rules following which a case was filed against 34 people which includes celebrities and staff members of the nightclub. The police have filed cases on 27 customers and 7 staff members.

The police allege that the nightclub was functioning beyond the permissible time limit and for not following the basic pandemic protocols of not wearing masks on the face and maintaining social distancing. At present the time limit for the pubs and nightclubs to operate in Mumbai which was set by the city’s civic body is 11:30 pm. The police said that the night club Dragonfly was operating till 4AM. A special squad of the Mumbai police conducted a raid at the nightclub at around 3AM on Tuesday.

The list of prominent celebrities who were among the violators was cricketer Suresh Raina, interior-designer Sussanne Khan, singer Guru Randhawa and rapper Badshah. However, the singer and the rapper present at the night club allegedly managed to escape the scene from the back gate of the night club.

This afternoon the Mumbai police tweeted via its official twitter handle saying “Party (Nahin) Chalegi Till Six In The Morning (Party will not go on till six in the morning)! A raid was conducted at a nightclub in Andheri at around 3AM, for flouting COVID prevention norms. Action has been initiated against 34 people, out of which 19 were from Delhi and Punjab including some celebrities #NewNormal.” The Mumbai Police is known for its digs and witty one-liners in its tweets on twitter.

The government of Maharashtra has imposed a night curfew from 11pm to 6am till the 5th of January in Mumbai and many other cities of the state. The authorities have also announced new quarantine rules for people arriving from the European and Middle-Eastern countries in order to keep the new strain of the novel coronavirus that had emerged in the United Kingdom. India has temporarily suspended all flight to and from the United Kingdom at present. Essential services will remain unaffected in the state like milk and vegetables but in this time not more than 5 people can assemble at a given place.

Over 4 lakh restaurants, bars and hotels in the state opened on October 4 after a gap of 6 years as a part of Unlock 5 which was the fifth phase of easing COVID-19 restrictions.
