Lalu Yadav Has To Wait For 6 more Weeks For Seeking Bail In Fodder Case

alu Yadav's bail hearing in the  fodder scam case, to be taken up today, has been extended by 6 more weeks waiting till the next hearing. Reportedly the hearing was put off as Lalu Yadav has not completed half his sentence, a requisite for his early release. There is a shortfall of 40 days. The hearing was earlier deferred as the CBI didn't file its statement before the Jharkhand High Court. Lalu Yadav, serving four-years in jail sentence for corruption apparently, has been granted bail in many other cases which was related to the swindle of government funds meant for cattle fodder. More likely, this is the last case which is against Lalu and expects that he will be released on bail this time along with all sought. Couple of days before, his lawyer Kapil Sibal had accused the CBI of "deliberately delaying the bail plea" in hearing. The "Dumka Treasury Case" involves Rs. 3.5 crore amount taken from the Dumka treasury by Bihar's Animal Husbandry Department officials between 1991 and 1996 at the time of CM Lalu Yadav. CM had been granted bail in October, connection with the Chaibasa treasury case, also related to the fodder scam. He will remain in jail till the  hearing on the Dumka Treasury case.

This was the first time in 40 years that Lalu Yadav missed a state election campaign because of his circumstances.
