Delhi Gripped At 1.1 Degree, Coldest New Year Day In 15 Years.

n New Year’s Day the capital city New Delhi records the lowest temperature in 15 years at the mercury dipped to 1.1 degree celsius. The minimum of 1.1 degree celsius was recorded by the Safdarjung observatory which provides the representative data of the city said the Indian Meteorological Department(IMD), it also added that last year the lowest temperature recorded in January was 0.2 degree celsius.

The head of the IMD’s regional forecasting center Kuldeep Srivastava said, “The minimum temperature of 1.1 degree Celsius is the coldest in 15 years. In 2006 the temperature dipped to 0.2 degree celsius. Cold wave conditions will persist today but the temperature will rise from tomorrow.” The met department suggests that ‘very dense fog’ is when the visibility is between 0-50 meters and in case of ‘dense fog’ visibility is between 51- 200 meters, the ‘moderate fog’ is 201-500 meters and ‘shallow fog’ from 501-1000 meters.

On Thursday Delhi recorded a minimum of 3.3 degree celsius and on December 18 the capital city recorded season’s lowest maximum temperature at 15.2 degree celsius.
